Verge halving explained
The last sixteenth Verge block reward halving is scheduled for October 25, 2023Â and its the last halving on the XVG network. Verge’s initial block reward was 200,000 XVG. For this upcoming Verge halving, the total number of Verge mined by miners per block will be reduced from 6.25 XVG to 0 XVG. In the first years the Verge block rewards halve over a different time period and number of blocks. These days it happens every 500,000 blocks or roughly every 173 days. After 500,000 blocks the maximum number of coins in circulation will be reached. Annual Verge inflation will be reduced to 0%.
How many Verge will ever be created?
16,555,000,000 XVG, will be issued. The inventor stipulated 16 billion and 555 million verge limit to control the supply and therefore future price fluctuations.
