Firo halving explained
Firo, initially known as Zcoin. It’s been hard to keep track of everything that’s happened, but here’s a quick rundown of the important Firo Hard Fork and halving changes.
Firo Network Changes Explained in 5 Steps
- Firo’s initial block reward has been set at 50 FIRO and block time for each mined block 10 minutes.
- The Firo network upgrade and hard fork! On December 10, 2018 at block height 117564 block time interval was changed from 10 to 5 minutes (time between blocks) and block reward has been reduced from 50 FIRO to 25 FIRO (see below Firo distribution) to keep the daily supply the same. - The First Firo halving occurred on September 14, 2020 at block height 302438 and Firo block reward decrease from 25 FIRO to 12.5 FIRO per block.
- The Firo network upgrade and hard fork! On June 16, 2022 at block height 486221 block time interval was changed from 5 minutes to 2.5 minutes (time between blocks) also block reward has been reduced from 12.5 FIRO to 6.125 FIOR (see below Firo distribution) to keep the daily supply the same. - Next Firo Halving! For this upcoming Firo block reward halving, the total number of Firo per block will be reduced from 6.25 FIRO to 3.125 FIRO. The Firo reward halves approximately every 4 years. Annual Firo inflation is reduced significantly. The 2nd Firo block reward halving is scheduled for September 14, 2024 (approximately).

- 50% Masternodes (3.125 FIRO)
- 25% Miners ( 1.5625 FIRO)
- 15% Dev reward (0.9375 FIRO)
- 10% Community Fund (0.625 FIRO)
*After Firo halving 2024, all block rewards will be halved.
How many Firo will ever be created?
21,400,000 Firo, will be issued. The inventor stipulated 21 million limit to control the supply and therefore future price fluctuations.
