Dash coin halving explained
Dash, initially known as Xcoin and then rebranded to Darkcoin. To date, the blockchain goes by the name DASH coin.
The next Dash halving is scheduled for June 20, 2024 (approximately). Dash’s initial block reward was 500 DASH. It’s not actually a halving, it’s a block reward reduction. Instead of the usual halving of the block reward as in Bitcoin every 4 years, which causes a large and stressful change for miners and users, Dash uses small block reward reductions of 7.14% each year, which is less stressful for users. After block number 840962 for the first time, the Dash reward has decreased by 7.14% per year. For this upcoming Dash block reward halving, the total number of DASH mined by miners per block will be reduced from 2.48733939 DASH to 2.312214 DASH. The Dash coin reward halves every 210240 blocks or it happens every 1 year (approximately 383.25 days). Annual Dash coin inflation is reduced significantly.
How many Dash coins will ever be created?
18,921,005 DASH, will be issued. The inventor stipulated almost 19 million DASH limit to control the supply and therefore future price fluctuations.
When will be the last DASH coin mined?
Dash coin is expected to be mineable for 192 years. Based on the Dash code, all dashcoins will be mined and in circulation by 2254, which leaves significant time ahead for global adoption and gradual growth of the network.
